SAN ANTONIO — Office Furniture Liquidations (OFL) welcomes the inventory and customers of Office Furniture Exchange when its doors close on October 31, 2023. Both furniture showrooms are staples in the community for offering discounted, new and used office furniture to business owners.

Office Furniture Exchange, located at 123 West Cevallos in San Antonio, first opened in 2006. Owner Perry Shipler has liquidated the business to OFL, located at 6838 Bandera Road.

“After a five-year battle with cancer, Perry Shipler, owner of Office Furniture Exchange, made the decision to close the store,” said Sebryna Shipler, daughter of Perry Shipler. “He truly enjoyed being a part of the San Antonio community. He loved speaking with clients as they came through the door and truly made an impact in many lives. My father always wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of those around him.”

OFL CEO Erik Darmstetter has known Shipler for years and is honored to help the family through difficult period of transition.

“A customer of both of our companies came by recently after learning of the closing and helped introduce me to Sebryna Shipler who we have been working with,” said Darmstetter. “The items that we are unable to sell at OFL will be given away to local charities.”The furniture that was liquidated from Office Furniture Exchange is available at OFL’s showroom and a portion of the sales will be provided to the Shiplers.

With the economy picking up and more people getting back into office spaces, OFL continues to see a tremendous need to bring items to customers faster, in bigger quantities at or below their budget. Premium prices were already paid by the original owners, so OFL customers get name brand furniture such as Steelcase, Knoll, and Herman Miller for a fraction of the new retail price. Currently, the most in-demand needs are seating and height-adjustable desks.

Store hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. OFL loads purchased items in vehicles and offers delivery if needed.

About Office Furniture Liquidations

Founded in 2014, Office Furniture Liquidations offers commercial-grade office, home, and hotel furniture designed to outfit an office with desks, chairs, tables, bookcases, file cabinets, supplies, and more. Premium prices were already paid by the original owners, so buyers of liquidation items receive significant discounts while getting many years of useful life out of the products. In response to customer and market demands, PTC Retail is proud to announce the availability of Flex Insights – a low-code platform designed to help brands and retailers unlock the power of their data to drive faster and better decision-making during planning and product development.

Flex Insights extends the industry leading capabilities and feature-rich functionality of PTC’s retail product lifecycle management platform, FlexPLM, and is available through simple, visual, easy to use and intuitive apps, including, but not limited to, critical path management, compliance tracking, visual line planning and sustainability analytics. Personalization features improve the user experience and put real-time data, imagery, and actionable insights at user’s fingertips.

“We’re constantly striving to improve business processes to drive speed, collaboration and efficiency,” says Corina Brügger, Service Transition Manager at Intersport. “The Flex Insights Critical Path Management app shows everyone the status of each product and the steps that need to be complete to get our products to market faster.”

PTC’s easy-to-deploy, and configurable apps empower brands and retailers to access actionable intelligence most important to their specific business needs and challenges. For example:

  • The Critical Path Management app provides product teams and senior management with up-to-the-minute views of the progress of each product and across the entire season’s line, enabling them to quickly address steps needed to get them to market on time.
  • The Compliance Tracking app allows product teams to define what sustainability and social compliance documents are required for specific products, and to track and manage the data in those documents to support reporting.
  • The Sustainability app enables rapid integration between FlexPLM and leading sustainability solutions, such as Worldly (formerly Higg) and Made2Flow. Product, material, and supplier scorecards in the app provide users with the data they need to proactively impact corporate sustainability goals and manage compliance and certifications.
  • The Visual Line Planning app automates seasonal line reviews, making it easier to set up reviews, collaborate with remote team members, capture notes, and update plans.

“In today’s fast-paced environment, brands and retailers have no shortage of data, but many continue to struggle with how to harness their critical business information. They spend a lot of time managing data and generating reports, yet still find it difficult to get the right information, to the right people, in the right format quickly enough to make meaningful business decisions,” says Bill Brewster, Senior Vice President, and General Manager of PTC’s Retail Business Unit. “I’m thrilled to announce the availability of Flex Insights, with its ability to analyze large amounts of data, this customer proven offer from PTC Retail has the ability to help companies make better product development decisions with speed, accuracy and efficiency, uncovering correlations and identifying patterns that were once not possible.”

PLANTATION, Florida – Rolling out over the next two weeks, GhostBed’s Ghost Massage Bed Powered by Cozzia will land on nearly 200 independent and major retailer floors, including Relax the Back, Steinhafels, Verlo, HOM, Big Sandy, Exclusive Furniture and Bailey’s.

Since the product was first previewed with dealers in January, GhostBed took that feedback and made enhancements to the mattress to ensure the ultimate consumer experience when sleeping including added technology and comfort features. Retailers were able to place orders for the mattress, available in an all-foam or hybrid model, beginning at the Summer Las Vegas Market.

“The response to our massage bed has really been incredible. Landing some of the top retails and growing our presents with the massage mattress to almost 200 doors is something we are proud of. More significantly, we are anticipating upward of 500 doors by the end of the year,” said Alan Hirschhorn, executive vice president of GhostBed. “As retail has been soft for our industry, we have all been tasked with finding ways to drive consumers to our dealers’ doors. At GhostBed, we pride ourselves on the level of innovation our products offer, as there’s nothing like them on the market.”

Each queen and king mattress has two individual massage pads that are independently remote-controlled, allowing each person the ability to enjoy their own customizable massages. The Ghost Massage Bed Powered by Cozzia offers a 10-, 20- or 30-minute massage and then automatically powers off. The separate massaging units allow individual sleepers the ability to experience a targeted or whole-body massage without any motion transfer, allowing each person an undisturbed sleep. In addition to the incredible massage features, the mattress is built to offer a great night’s sleep, so it incorporates various layers of gel memory foam layer, GhostFlex Transition foam, high density base foam in addition to the massaging layer.

GhostBed’s Ghost Massage Bed Powered by Cozzia is priced at $2,999 in queen. A full list of retailers can be located on the company’s website: www.ghostbed.com/.

HIGH POINT- During the October High Point Market, JP Home Furnishings, Whitewood Industries upholstery division, will premier its Caszh Series [abbreviation of “Casual”] in response to the closing of industry leader, Klaussner Furniture Industries, Inc.

While many upholstery manufacturers work to fill the now vacant spots Klaussner Furniture Industries, Inc, once occupied, few are taking the approach JP Home Furnishings is taking.

“JP Home, upon hearing the news of Klaussner’s closing, was at first shocked, and then saddened. Klaussner was an industry giant for years. It’s hard to see a giant fall and then to think of the Klaussner team, many that had called Klaussner home for thirty plus years. It’s worrisome for our industry and sad for that team.” states JP Home Furnishings VP, Carla Mata. “We truly didn’t think of it as being an opportunity until I was visiting with retailers about our product, and they were essentially in urgent mode asking us to develop best selling Klaussner pieces in order to quickly fill those spots.”

From there, JP Home Furnishings worked hand-in-hand with retailers on which slots were the most pressing, and had their development team onsite at retailers ensuring they captured the essence, and detail of each piece. As well, the company contracted two of Klaussner’s better goods developers, to support its in-house development team.

JP Home Furnishings approach has been to keep the look, scale, number of pillows, etcetera, yet incorporate their signature contract grade frame into the product.

“We don’t want, never intended, to capitalize on another company’s fall,” states Mata. “Instead, we really, and truly, want to help retailers continue to succeed with proven product.”

Many retailers, are looking for product to ship by the end of October to fill slots that, by then, will be unoccupied. In response, JP Home Furnishings has positioned itself with materials to begin production on the newly developed pieces immediately following market.

About JP Home Furnishings

In December 2020, a long-time vision took form. With residential furnishings sales at an all-time high and contract furnishings plummeting, three women, veterans in the industry, teamed up with a contract upholstery manufacturer to create a first of its kind; an upholstery brand that would check off all the boxes while being solely run, designed, and led by women. Women who recognized the need for an upholstery line that would encompass everything today’s discerning shopper is looking for, all while maintaining the strenuous standards of contract grade furnishings.

In 2023 JP Home Furnishings turned the page to a new chapter and proudly merged under the Whitewood Industries umbrella of brands which include Custom Contract Furnishings, John Thomas Furniture, Whitewood Ready-to-Finish, and International Concepts. In doing so, the once “new kid on the block” gained credibility by being financially backed by a 30+ year strong, American owned and operated, employee-owned company.
