DUBUQUE, Iowa  — The casual furniture segment has been among the fastest growing segments of the furniture business in recent years, a trend that was accelerated by the recent pandemic.

Responding to that growing interesting in furnishing the outdoor room, coupled with this year’s move of the Casual Market to Atlanta, Flexsteel has entered the outdoor segment with the launch of two new collections; both of which will be on display at next week’s Casual Market at AmericasMart in Atlanta.

The launch of Flexsteel Outdoor Living includes two new collections: Vista Wicker Lounge and Nova Wood Dining and Lounge. To craft these collections, Flexsteel partnered with Intransit, a design studio based in Berlin, collaborating with the designers Nils Koehn and Felix Götze.

By employing innovative and sustainable materials, Koehn and Götze have curated a collection of furnishings and accessories that, according to the company, will withstand the elements and provide comfortable outdoor spaces for dining, lounging and socializing.

In addition to offering individualized and coordinated pieces, the soft seating collection includes modular options, allowing customers to personalize their arrangements and enhance the flexibility of their outdoor living areas.

The two new contemporary collections — Nova and Vista — highlight the characteristics of each material used while keeping sustainability and comfort at the forefront, according to Flexsteel.

The Vista features soft curves and smooth transitions that create an elegant and inviting atmosphere. By incorporating passive motion features, such as a carrier frame with subtle flex, the Vista collection is said to enhance the user experience.

The Nova collection focuses on the beauty and sustainability of fast-growing Acacia wood and features traditional mortise joints that highlight the wood’s natural qualities. According to the company, this durable wood not only withstands the elements but also adds a touch of natural elegance to outdoor spaces.

The Nova collection also features a unique connection detail that simplifies assembly for retailers and consumers, according to the company. Both collections are scaled to fit most of the population, offering enhanced support and well-being for users. Additionally, their moderate footprint and scale ensure they can fit seamlessly into any outdoor space.

“The goal from the beginning was to deliver great comfort through reasonably sized outdoor furniture. These collections are versatile enough to be used in a variety of settings, from small apartment balconies to expansive backyard decks or pool areas,” said Tim Newlin, vice president of strategic business development at Flexsteel.

Flexsteel’s showroom at Casual Market can be found in Building 1, Floor 7, Booth 1162.
