HIGH POINT — The home furnishings industry comes by planes, trains and automobiles for the biannual High Point Market, and one upholstery manufacturer is paying homage to international design references with its latest introductions.

Wesley Hall, a Hickory, N.C.-based upholstery manufacturer, travels across the globe with its latest introductions, from vintage Parisian shops to the English countryside. Merchandised in the showroom’s “salons,” the new SKUs reference several design aesthetics and are intended to offer a look for nearly every buyer.

“Per our norm, our goal this market is to create conversation and business based on textile, leather and color movements,” said Zack Taylor, president. “Each salon speaks to different ideas or trends we see as we travel and study other marketplaces. At the same time, we address the vastly different regionality and lifestyles of our distribution partners and their clientele.”

The five salon themes for the fall market include:

Global Modern: Drawing inspiration from around the world, Global Modern “relies on the travels we have taken … or those we dream about,” officials said. Representatives added that “this fashion borrows and modernizes elements from design motifs from every corner of the globe – block prints, textured linens, and rich velvets,” and includes a saturated color palette of sangria, henna, amber and turmeric against a grounding palette of denim and charcoal.

Center Court: Center Court is “a light, crisp take on a classic menswear theme,” according to Wesley Hall representatives, and references its origins in British college rowing clubs from the early 20th century, with the fashions one may have seen both on and off the court at turn-of-the-century Wimbeldon. Described as the “English precursor to today’s Preppy style, Center Court features chambray, sage, camel, ivory and dune hues.

Modern Redux: Influenced by the ongoing popularity of mid-century-modern, the concept of “vintage modern has never been more en vogue or more in keeping with our classic made current” tagline, officials said. This Modern Redux trend has resurfaced with a “sophisticated, livable and comfortable edge” and features soft shapes and relaxed, everyday scale that parallels with the re-boot of Wesley Hall’s build-your-own program, Signature Elements. Earth tones found in nature are featured, including clay, honey and paprika grounded in a “livable” warm bisque.

Palm Beach: Noting that Palm Beach style is “vibrant and colorful with just the right touch of tropical,” officials said that Wesley Hall’s take for the fall market also has classic undertones of European textile influence. Crisp white and rattan is accentuated with “vibrant hues of peony, palm, lagoon and papaya” for this updated version of Palm Beach style.

Maison Casual: Maison Casual heralds “updated European casual on our side of the pond” and offers all of the charm of the Old World, company officials said. Linens, tea-stained prints, velvets, awning stripes and tailored treatments take center stage, and are shown in both warm and cool hues including slate, agean, indigo, java, adobe, camel and dove.
