NEW YORK — While it has specialized in designer show homes in the past, the Kaleidoscope Project, a nonprofit organization formed to address the inequities found in the creative design and furnishings industries, is bringing its perspective to renowned Manhattan retailer Bergdorf Goodman.

The 2024 project connects the retail icon with culturally diverse designers, artisans and makers through a three-month pop-up exhibit, launching April 19, 2024, at Bergdorf Goodman’s location on Fifth Avenue. The project is dubbed A Celebration of Creativity and Culture.

“Our organization is pleased to work with creative talents in all fields of art and design,” said Amy Lynn Schwartzbard, founder and executive director of the Kaleidoscope Project. “The pop-up with Bergdorf Goodman allows us to showcase the visual arts and design in a way we have not previously done.”

Bergdorf Goodman is hosting the exhibition on the seventh floor Decorative Home Department that has housed other successful pop-ups with design legends such as Kit Kemp and Kelly Wearstler. The Kaleidoscope Project event is the first of its kind at Bergdorf Goodman.

The project is seeking creators of fine and functional art, textiles, ceramics, upholstered seating, sculpture and more.

“This collaboration gives talented artists from diverse backgrounds and under-represented cultures an immense opportunity to have their work displayed and sold through one of the biggest names in New York City and, indeed, around the world,” Schwartzbard said. “It is a launchpad unlike any we have been able to undertake before. It’s also a point of pride that Bergdorf Goodman recognizes our work and wants to showcase fantastic talent through this collaboration.”
