HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – Naturepedic is marching toward its goal of having 25 branded stores nationwide by the end of the year with the opening of its newest store here this week.

The new store, in the Chicago suburb, is 21st store for the makers of certified organic, non-toxic mattresses and sleep products.

“As one of the first companies to enter the organic mattress space, we’re excited to be in a position to grow, expand our retail presence, and offer consumers additional touchpoints to Naturepedic,” said Arin Schultz, vice president of sales and marketing. “We believe this retail growth will further position Naturepedic as the leader in sleep accessories for those who prioritize health, wellness and sustainability.”

The company, celebrating its 20th year in business this year, said many consumers still prefer a traditional shopping experience, and that’s the primary driver of its branded store rollout. In addition to its brand stores, the company operates a direct-to-consumer business online and has wholesale partnerships with a  number of key retailers, including Bloomingdales, Liverpool, N.Y.-based Raymour & Flanigan, Pottery Barn, RH, Target, West Elm, Babylist and more.

Shultz said the company is excited to be in Chicago. “We think it’s great for the brand and hopefully will drive more traffic into areas stores all around that carry our product,” he said.

The company is hosting a grand opening Thursday, July 13, with a slate of all-day activities, including a ribbon cutting at noon and happy hour later in the day.

The opening is also the beginning of  Naturepedic’s partnership with Humble Design Chicago, a nonprofit organization that custom designs and furnishes homes for individuals, families and veterans emerging from homelessness. Through this partnership consumers can donate their old mattress to Humble Design to receive a discount on in-store purchases at Naturepedic Chicago, or donate other approved household items.

“We believe that everyone deserves a safe, beautiful space with a bed to lay their head on,” said Jazmine Stephens, executive director Humble Design Chicago. “This partnership with Naturepedic means more local families will know the comfort of home.”
